School Students from Meryas Academy visited the Mineralogy Lab at Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences
A group of school students from Meryas Academy in Irbid (9th and 10th grades) have visited to mineralogy lab at the department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. They have been lectured about the fundamental principles of mineralogy including definition of minerals, mineral groups, properties and identification methods of minerals provided by Mr. Mohammad Khawaja. The students have been given the a new educational experience by examining real mineral specimens and study their characteristics. Following the lecture, the students have been accompanied to the Natural History Museum where they observed the museum assets, especially the rock and mineral samples available there. Its noteworthy that this is the second visit to the department of Earth and Environmental Sciences by school student within two weeks, which highlights the role of Yarmouk University in providing the local community organizations with scientific expertise.
