The Faculty of Science at Yarmouk University Celebrated the International Day of Medical Physics under the theme:
"Medical Physics and Modern Technologies: Features of the Coming Decade"

Later, Prof. Moheeb Awawdeh, Dean of the Faculty of Science, delivered a speech in which he expressed his pride in organizing this scientific event. He praised the efforts of the Physics Department in disseminating scientific knowledge and highlighting the importance of medical physics as one of the leading applied disciplines that bridges fundamental sciences with modern therapeutic technologies.
Awawdeh emphasized that Yarmouk University, through the Faculty of Science, gives special attention to precise scientific fields that have a direct impact on the development of health services. He noted that medical physics represents one of the pillars of the scientific future in the areas of diagnosis and treatment using advanced radiation technologies.

The program of the event included a presentation by student Luzan Al-Rumahi, in which she addressed the development of medical physics both locally and globally. She highlighted the growing role of medical physicists in advancing diagnosis and treatment, as well as improving the quality of healthcare services.
The scientific day also featured a series of specialized lectures. During these, Mr. Haitham Mohammad Kan’an from the King Hussein Cancer Center delivered a lecture entitled “Flash Radiotherapy and Its Future Prospects in Cancer Treatment.” In his talk, he reviewed the latest techniques used to accelerate radiation doses, enhance treatment efficiency, and reduce side effects for patients.
Mr. Dia Qaisi from the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission spoke about the central role of the medical physicist in radiation practices and occupational safety, stressing the importance of coordination between academic institutions and regulatory bodies to develop safety standards and ensure the highest levels of radiation protection.
The event also included honoring participants, organizers, and outstanding students in recognition of their efforts to make the event a success. In addition, an interactive scientific competition was conducted by student Abdullah Sqour and student Noor Abu Safieh, which drew great engagement from the audience and remarkable enthusiasm from the students, who demonstrated advanced awareness of the importance of medical physics in serving humanity and society.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Prof. Moheeb Awawdeh, Dean of the Faculty, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all participants, guests, and organizers. He affirmed that this scientific activity embodies Yarmouk University’s vision of promoting a culture of research, innovation, and openness to global scientific development, and consolidates the Faculty of Science’s position as a leading academic and research beacon at both the national and regional levels.
