The Department of Physics organized an educational visit for students enrolled in the Nuclear Physics course to the Jordan Research and Training Reactor, under the supervision of Dr. Manal Abdallah and accompanied by Dr. Ali Al-Momani, as part of efforts to strengthen the practical aspect of learning and connect theoretical concepts with modern applications in the field of nuclear physics.
During the visit, the students attended a valuable scientific lecture delivered by Dr. Kafa Khasawneh, Utilization Technology Manager, in which she discussed the relationship between physics and the fundamental applications of the Jordan Research and Training Reactor. She also highlighted the importance of the medical and industrial uses of radioactive isotopes and their vital role in serving various sectors.
The visit also included a field tour of the reactor’s various facilities, accompanied by Engineer Safwan Rawashdeh, Nuclear Security Officer. The students were introduced to the laboratories, technical equipment, and operational procedures followed within this distinguished national scientific institution, as well as the highly qualified scientific and technical staff responsible for managing and operating its facilities with the highest levels of efficiency and professionalism.
The students expressed their deep appreciation for the importance of this scientific visit and the valuable knowledge and practical experiences it provided, which further enriched their academic understanding. They also emphasized the significance of the Jordan Research and Training Reactor as one of the leading national institutions supporting scientific research and technological development in Jordan.
