Professor Dr. Hanan Issa Malkawi from the Faculty of Science at Yarmouk University has been selected to serve as an expert and consultant in the field of research management and innovation. This is within the framework of the European Union project titled “Support to the EU Liaison Office for the Horizon Europe Program in the Arab Republic of Egypt”, implemented in direct cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
This initiative is one of the key strategic efforts aimed at strengthening scientific and research collaboration between Egypt and the European Union, increasing the participation of Egyptian researchers and academic institutions in European research and innovation programs, and enhancing Egypt’s role as an active regional partner in the global scientific and technological research system.
Under this official assignment, Dr. Malkawi will provide technical and advisory support to Egyptian institutions working in research and innovation, contribute to capacity-building for Egyptian researchers to compete in European funding programs, and support the development of international partnerships between Egyptian and European institutions. She will also work on improving the quality of research proposals in line with sustainable development standards, and promote the integration of the private sector and startups into the research and innovation ecosystem. Collectively, these efforts aim to strengthen the readiness of Egyptian institutions to benefit from funding and international cooperation opportunities available under Horizon Europe, thereby advancing Egypt’s overall research and innovation system.
This achievement crowns Dr. Malkawi’s extensive academic, scientific, and leadership experience accumulated over years of scholarly and research work. It also reflects the distinguished reputation of Yarmouk University and its academic competencies at both regional and international levels, highlighting the pioneering role of Jordanian expertise in supporting scientific and research collaboration between Arab countries and the European Union. Moreover, it opens new horizons for joint cooperation between Yarmouk University and research institutions in Egypt and the EU alike.
