Under the patronage of the Head of the Scientific Service Courses Department, Dr. Tareq Al-Shboul, in the presence of the Head of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Al-Qudah, and under the supervision of course instructor Ms. Safaa Khashashneh, the students of the Environment and Sustainability Course (SCI 110) carried out an environmental initiative on Tuesday, 3/12/2024, titled “Green Impact Makers – Sustainability Awareness Initiative on Campus.”

The initiative reflects the key and influential role of the Scientific Service Courses Department, which continuously works to promote environmental consciousness and embed sustainability principles within the university learning environment. Through this course, the department emphasizes transforming theoretical knowledge into practical actions that positively impact the campus community.

As part of the activity, students distributed drinking water bottles across the Faculty of Science and nearby departments. These bottles were adorned with awareness stickers carrying messages on sustainable development, environmental care, and conserving natural resources. The aim was to encourage simple, daily sustainable habits among students through direct and meaningful messages.

The initiative also included a voluntary outdoor cleanup campaign, reinforcing students’ sense of responsibility and belonging, and highlighting the importance of maintaining a clean and sustainable campus environment.

Dr. Al-Shboul praised the students for their initiative and highlighted the department’s ongoing commitment to supporting impactful environmental activities.
Dr. Al-Qudah also commended the effort, emphasizing the value of student-led actions in fostering a culture of sustainability on campus.

For her part, Ms. Safaa Khashashneh expressed her pride in the students’ engagement and stressed her hope to see more awareness-driven initiatives, recognizing their importance in spreading sustainability values within the university and the wider community.
