As part of academic activities, and organized by members of the teaching faculty, Master’s students of Medical Physics in both the Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine courses, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Molham Oueida and Professor Dr. Zaid Ababneh, participated in a field visit to King Abdullah University Hospital on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. The aim was to explore the latest devices and practical applications related to their academic specialization.
The visit included an introductory tour of several medical departments, among them the Diagnostic Radiology Department and the Nuclear Medicine Department, where students were introduced to modern medical equipment in use. They also received explanations about the principles of operation, various clinical applications, and radiation safety procedures followed within the hospital.
The tour covered several medical imaging devices such as the X-ray machine, contrast imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and the 3D mammography device. In the Nuclear Medicine Department, they observed functional imaging devices such as the Gamma Camera and techniques related to radioactive uptake studies, including thyroid scans.
They also learned about the working environment of the Hot Lab, and the visit extended to the radiopharmaceutical preparation laboratory, where they were introduced to the adopted radiation safety requirements, as well as various radiation measurement devices. During the visit, students had the opportunity to ask questions and raise scientific inquiries, which were answered by the specialized staff, clarifying practical aspects related to their field.
This visit comes within the university’s commitment to strengthening the practical dimension for students and linking theoretical knowledge with clinical application, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified professionals capable of keeping pace with developments.
The visit concluded with expressions of gratitude and appreciation to the hospital administration and medical staff for their warm reception and cooperation, with an emphasis on the importance of such scientific visits.
