Visit of a Delegation from Dept. of Physics to King Hussein Cancer Center

As part of the academic activities and scientific field trips supported by the University, a group of students from the Biomedical Medical Physics program, enrolled in the Radiotherapy course, conducted a scientific visit to the King Hussein Cancer Center on Saturday, 20/12/2025, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Anas Ababneh. The visit aimed to familiarize students with the latest technologies used in the field of radiotherapy at the Center’s new expansion, and to link the theoretical knowledge learned by students with practical, real-world applications.

The group was received by Mr. Samer Al-Hayyat, Head of the Medical Physics Department at the Center, who welcomed the visiting delegation. This was followed by a presentation by Mr. Mohammad Al-Sheikh, a medical physicist at the Center, who introduced the students to the roles and responsibilities of medical physicists in modern treatment centers. A guided tour of the Center’s equipment was then conducted, with detailed explanations of the function of each system at different stages of treatment, in addition to a brief presentation on treatment planning using specialized software.

At the end of the tour, an open discussion session was held with the students to answer their questions regarding training opportunities and courses offered by the Center, which contribute to developing the skills required for the job market. Concluding the visit, Prof. Dr. Anas Ababneh expressed his gratitude to the Center for its warm reception and its continuous cooperation with the Biomedical Medical Physics program at Yarmouk University, emphasizing the importance of strengthening collaboration frameworks between the two parties and enhancing the benefits of the existing academic and research cooperation agreement.
