Mohammad Majed Al-Kleib, a student in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Science, Yarmouk University, participated in the Climate Virtual Exchange Week (CLUVEX) organized by the University of Helsinki in Finland, supported by the European Erasmus+ program.
Al-Kleib successfully completed the scientific requirements of the program, earning an official participation certificate along with one accredited academic credit (1 ECTS) recorded in the University of Helsinki’s academic records. This achievement highlights the distinguished academic level of Yarmouk University’s science students and their ability to compete and excel in international academic forums.
During the scientific week, which brought together hundreds of students from around the world, Al-Kleib worked within an international research team to develop a project and interactive training called “Personal Climate Horizon.” The project focused on local environmental challenges, specifically the water scarcity crisis in Irbid Governorate and its direct impact on agricultural heritage and olive trees.
Al-Kleib presented an innovative scientific and practical proposal that employs local media (environmental radio) to raise farmers’ awareness of smart water-harvesting methods and drought-resistant farming techniques, serving as a bridge between complex climate data and practical applications for the local community.
This participation aligns with the vision of the Faculty of Science and Yarmouk University to encourage students to engage in international exchange programs, share experiences with prestigious global universities, and harness academic knowledge to find sustainable solutions to environmental and climate issues of concern to Jordan and the world.
