Within the framework of the extracurricular activities of the Department of Mathematics, International Pi Day was celebrated in the Adnan Badran Amphitheater - College of Science. This was organized by the Seminars Committee in the department represented by Dr. Mostafa Hayajneh, and in the presence and participation of many students and faculty members. Student Dana Ahmed gave a presentation to define the number Pi and its importance in Mathematics and other sciences.
In his lecture, Dr. Jebrel Habeb reviewed the history of scientists' attempts to present the approximation for the number Pi, the importance of this
approximation, and ways to benefit from it in measuring the efficiency of computers, and he presented some of the contributions of the
Arab-Islamic civilization in this field.
Prof. Dr. Abedel-Karrem AlOmari presented, a lecture explaining the philosophy of mathematics, mathematical logic, mathematical construction,
the importance of using mathematics in other sciences, and the degree of certainty achieved by using mathematical methods in these sciences.
At the end of the ceremony, a competition was held about the number Pi, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Rhayyel honored the winners by distributing
prizes.
