Faculty of Science – Department of Physics – First Winter School on Space Science and Technology
Under the patronage of the Faculty of Science, the first winter school on the basics of Space Science and Technology was launched under the title:
"First Winter School: Basics of Space Science and Technology"
This event was organized by the Department of Physics in collaboration with the Regional Center, held from February 17 to 19, 2025. This course is one of the advanced educational programs aimed at enhancing knowledge in space science and technology, highlighting its uses in sustainable development, as well as studying stars and galaxies and keeping up with the latest developments in this rapidly evolving field.
The course included several specialized scientific topics, most notably: ✅ Concepts of space and its properties
✅ A comprehensive overview of the solar system and planets
✅ Study of stars, galaxies, and star systems
✅ Space plasma and its effects on the cosmic environment
✅ Spacecraft, rockets, and satellites
✅ Uses of satellites in agriculture, the environment, and water
The course also introduced students to major global space missions such as the International Space Station, NASA projects, lunar and Mars exploration, and the search for life beyond Earth. Additionally, a hands-on activity was organized for students to use specialized software to simulate astronomical systems.

Dr. Mohammad Bawaneh, Head of the Department of Physics, confirmed that the course represents an important step in raising scientific awareness among students and encouraging them to acquire both practical and theoretical skills that contribute to a deeper understanding of the universe.
At the end of the event, Dr. Qais Al-Omari, Head of the Training Department at the Regional Center, praised the outstanding academic level of the Physics Department students and commended the university for organizing this course. He encouraged students to continue research and development in space science and technology through graduation projects in collaboration with the center.
Certificates of participation were awarded to all students who successfully completed the course.
