Students from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences participated in the MEOS GEO 2025 Middle East Oil, Gas, and Geosciences Conference and Exhibition held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The university was represented by Esraa Zuhair Hassan Akkour and Zainab Montaser Ali Mustafa at this prominent international scientific event.
Student Esraa Akkour achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the MEOS GEO 2025 Challenge with an innovative presentation on the topic of 'Energy Security.' Her proposal focused on utilizing hydrogen produced through nuclear energy, which earned her the award for Best Presentation at the conference. This accomplishment reflects the excellence of the department’s students and their ability to compete in prominent regional and international scientific forums


The two students expressed their pride in representing the university and the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in the 'Young Professionals and Students' program at the MEOS GEO Bahrain 2025 Middle East Oil, Gas, and Geosciences Exhibition. They participated in several lectures addressing energy-related topics and technical challenges, and presented innovative solutions for waste disposal and its conversion into energy sources. They also connected with a diverse group of students, experts, and leading institutions in the energy sector, which broadened their intellectual horizons and opened new opportunities to reflect on the future of energy both locally and globally. The students praised the support they received from faculty members Dr. Abdullah Al-Rawabdeh and Dr. Mohammad Al-Qudah, expressing their deep gratitude for the trust placed in them to represent the university and the department at this international forum
