Under the gracious patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Division of Mining, Geological, Petroleum Engineering, in collaboration with the Division of Chemical Engineering, organized a workshop titled "Investing in Copper Ores and Rare Earth Elements in Jordan", held at the Professional Associations Complex on August 4, 2025.

As part of the workshop’s activities, Professor Dr. Habis Ghreifat from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences delivered a scientific lecture highlighting the significance of remote sensing and spectral reflectance techniques in the study of copper ores, with a particular focus on the Feynan region in southern Jordan.

It is worth noting that this work is part of a joint research project supported by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies at Yarmouk University. Representing the university in this project are Professor Dr. Habis Ghreifat and Professor Dr. Moheeb Awwad from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, along with Professor Dr. Khaled Al-Tarawneh from the Department of Mining Engineering at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University.
